Hello,
I just got an e-mail this morning from Doug and Carina Jenkins. You may remember them from a post I did a while ago about Roundtop, here. Anyway, Doug and Carina have been working on a new venture with Mark Sage from Love Train Antiques and BoBo Intriguing Objects. And the new venture is Eneby Antik. Eneby is the name of Carina’s hometown in Sweden. The gorgeous website has launched, full of antiques and vintage treasures. I encourage you to stop on by. They haven’t posted prices, but shoot Doug an e-mail and he’ll get you all the information you need. I had a ball putting together this montage of items from the site.

Speaking of BoBo and love in general, I am in the process of tweaking my master bedroom. When Bonnie was here in September, she made some suggestions about by bedroom, both to make it more “magazine worthy” as well as give it better proportion. As much fun as it would be for the bedroom to be in a national magazine, I became much more energized by her suggestions on giving the room better proportions. I have two small club chairs that I had slipcovered in white linen. They are wonderful chairs, but Bonnie felt that they were too diminutive for the room. The more that I looked at them, the more I knew that she was right. Our ceilings are quite high and my sweet club chairs looked lost. So I started looking at something with a little more height. And I found this wonderful chaise from BoBo.
I really love the unusual height of the back, as so many chaises have a low back. I might have to see if they would do a skirt for me. Although I love the legs, I think a skirt would be more feminine, and I want more femininity in my bedroom. With three boys, a male dog and an alpha male husband, I need some softness in my sanctuary. When we moved in, my intention was to do a canopy on the bed of mosquito netting or sheer linen. But I became so enamored with how clean and uncluttered the room was that I eliminated that idea, which would have really made the room softer and more feminine. I am back to thinking that I need to do some sort of canopy, though. My room has an Out of Africa sort of feel to it, so I am looking at photos of beds in luxury safari tents for inspiration.
I have several vintage prints depicting African wildlife which I have now decided to hang elsewhere. In the meantime, I have been looking for art to flank either side of my highboy dresser. The images below are what I really, really want. This art is so evocative to me – and from the photos I posted about the Art Fair, I know you won’t be surprised. Here are two by artist Linda Broadfoot, represented by the Sears Peyton gallery.

Don’t let the size of the images fool you – these are both poster sized images. But I love them. I first saw Linda’s work on Brooke’s site and I immediately fell in love with them.
Another artist whose work I would love to have in my bedroom is Joseph Scheer. I found his work on the Ruby Beets website. These are similar, but so ethereal and lovely.

I do have an affinity for butterflies dating from several years in the past. And while some of these may actually be moths, they are magical. So, I would LOVE any of these in my bedroom and one day I will have something similar by one or the other of these artists. But what to do now? I really want to hang art that feels lyrical but natural.
This was one solution to my chaise/art dilemma. I used a wing chair that I have a slipcover for, an ottoman, and some prints from elsewhere in the house and this is the vignette that I came up with.

I am very happy with the direction it is taking. but it still needs more work. For one thing, I stole the egg prints from my hallway so they have to go back. I probably need to find another something to hang above the protea glicee print. I really like my little butterfly prints hanging there – I stole them from my hallway cabinet display. Wouldn’t the BoBo chaise look fantastic here? And the Broadfoot or Scheer’s pieces would be stunning at some point, too.
I have more master bedroom on the brain, but I must dash to my workroom with a panel of burlap for a client….More soon, I promise!
Kristin
